'I believed that I might die a sex slave:' Virginia Giuffre's memoir reveals details of Epstein trafficking

Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, is set for release on Tuesday, October 21, revealing the harrowing details of her years in Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking network. The memoir, completed before Giuffre’s death by suicide in April at age 41, provides an expanded account of allegations against the convicted sex offender and those in his circle, including Prince Andrew.
Fear and Exploitation
In the memoir, Giuffre writes that she feared she might “die a sex slave” at the hands of Epstein and his associates. She describes being subjected to “sadistic abuse” and sadomasochistic sex that caused her “so much pain that I prayed I would black out”. The book paints a picture of a web of rich and powerful people abusing young women, with Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell at the center. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence on sex-trafficking charges.
Giuffre writes that the girls in Epstein’s network were required to look “childlike,” and that her childhood eating disorder was “only encouraged” under Epstein’s control. “In my years with them, they lent me out to scores of wealthy, powerful people,” she states. “I was habitually used and humiliated — and in some instances, choked, beaten, and bloodied”.
Allegations Against Prince Andrew

The memoir details Giuffre’s claims of three sexual encounters with Prince Andrew, who reached a financial settlement with her in 2022 but has always denied any wrongdoing. According to the book, Giuffre first met Prince Andrew in March 2001 when Maxwell woke her up and told her it was going to be a “special day” and that “just like Cinderella” she was going to meet a “handsome prince”.
When they met, Maxwell allegedly asked the prince to guess Giuffre’s age, and he “guessed correctly: seventeen”. Giuffre recalls him saying, “My daughters are just a little younger than you”. That night, she attended London’s Tramp nightclub with Prince Andrew, Epstein, and Maxwell, where she says the prince “sweated profusely”.
“When we get home, you are to do for him what you do for Jeffrey.”
In a car on the way back to Maxwell’s house, Giuffre writes that Maxwell gave her this instruction. She describes the prince as “friendly enough, but still entitled — as if he believed having sex with me was his birthright”.
The following morning, Giuffre writes, Maxwell told her: “You did well. The prince had fun”. Giuffre adds that “Epstein would give me $15,000 for servicing the man the tabloids called ‘Randy Andy’”.

The memoir describes a second encounter with Prince Andrew at Epstein’s New York townhouse approximately a month later, and a third occasion on Epstein’s private island as part of what Giuffre called “an orgy”. She writes that “Epstein, Andy, and approximately eight other young girls and I had sex together,” noting that “the other girls all appeared to be under the age of 18 and didn’t really speak English”.
Allegations Against Former Israeli Prime Minister
In a particularly harrowing section of the memoir, Giuffre describes being beaten and raped by a “well-known Prime Minister” in an assault that she said ultimately helped break Epstein’s psychological control over her. The memoir recounts an incident on Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2002, when Giuffre was 18 years old. She writes that she was instructed to guide the politician to a cabana, where he subjected her to violent sexual assault.
Following the attack, Giuffre says she sought help from Epstein, who callously dismissed her concerns and indicated the violence was simply part of her duties. “After the assault, I could no longer remain naïve,” Giuffre writes in an excerpt. “The brutality I faced, coupled with Epstein’s apathetic response to my terror, made it clear that his praise was merely a tactic to keep me submissive”.
Giuffre refers to the perpetrator only as “the Prime Minister” in the memoir, citing fear of retaliation. However, she had previously identified former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak in legal documents as one of the powerful individuals who had assaulted her. Barak, who served as Israel’s prime minister from 1999 to 2001, has consistently and vehemently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.
Barak has acknowledged having a business relationship with Epstein, including investing $1 million in an Israeli security startup called Carbyne in 2015. He has stated that he was introduced to Epstein by former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres in 2002 and maintained that he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities. After Epstein’s arrest in 2019, Barak publicly condemned Epstein’s actions as “heinous” and said he had cut all ties with him.
Giuffre writes that the assault was a turning point that shattered Epstein’s illusion of being a protective figure. She describes being haunted by “the sadistic, gleeful look on Prime Minister’s face as he watched me plead for my life”. The final breaking point came that same summer when Epstein and Maxwell proposed that Giuffre have their child, promising wealth and luxury but requiring her to relinquish legal rights to the baby. Concerned they intended to exploit the child as a future trafficking victim, she began planning her escape.
Prince Andrew Relinquishes Titles
On Friday, October 17, Prince Andrew announced he would give up his royal titles, including the Duke of York, following discussions with King Charles III. In his statement, the prince said the “continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family”. He added: “I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me”.
While Prince Andrew will retain the status of prince as the son of a monarch, he will no longer use the Duke of York title, which was granted to him by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The decision to forfeit his titles was reached after discussions involving both King Charles and Prince William.
Some members of Parliament, including Rachael Maskell (Independent MP for York Central) and Stephen Flynn (SNP leader at Westminster), have called for the titles to be officially removed. However, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson stated that these are “matters for the Royal Family” rather than for government, noting that “the government, by long-standing convention, does not concern itself in matters concerning the Royal Family”.
Metropolitan Police Investigation

On Sunday, the Metropolitan Police said it was “actively” looking into media reports that Prince Andrew attempted to obtain personal information about Giuffre through his police protection officer. According to the Mail on Sunday, the prince asked the officer to investigate Giuffre just before the newspaper published a photo in February 2011 of her first meeting with the prince, allegedly providing the officer with her date of birth and confidential social security number.
Dai Davies, the former head of royal protection at Scotland Yard, told BBC One’s Breakfast that if there is “any evidence of criminality either under the data protection act or malfeasance in public office, then that has to be carefully considered, and then a report sent to the Crown Prosecution [Service]”.
Giuffre’s Final Wishes
Giuffre completed the memoir with ghostwriter Amy Wallace years before her death. In an email sent to Wallace on April 1, just weeks before her death on April 25, Giuffre expressed her “heartfelt wish” for the memoir to be published “regardless” of her situation. “The publication of this book is crucial as it sheds light on the systemic failures that allow the trafficking of vulnerable individuals across borders,” she wrote. “It is imperative that the truth is understood and the issues surrounding this topic are addressed, both for the sake of justice and awareness”.
Giuffre’s family described her as “a warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking” and noted that “she was the light that lifted so many survivors”. In their statement following her death, they said: “In the end, the toll of abuse is such that it became unbearable for her to handle the weight”.
At the time of her death, Giuffre had been living on a farm in Neergabby, Western Australia. Three weeks before her death, she had posted on Instagram about suffering serious injuries in a car accident, which her family later clarified she had not meant to disclose publicly.
Epstein’s Legacy
Jeffrey Epstein was convicted in Florida in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a person under the age of 18. He died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Giuffre was one of the first people to call for criminal prosecution against Epstein.
The memoir adds to the extensive documentation of Epstein’s sex trafficking operation, which ensnared dozens of young women and girls over multiple decades. While much of Giuffre’s story has been previously reported through court filings and interviews, Nobody’s Girl offers what the publisher describes as “an unsparing and definitive account of her time with Epstein and Maxwell”.
A Buckingham Palace source told BBC News they accept there could be “more days of pain ahead” as a result of the publication. The palace has not commented on the specific allegations in the memoir.
